SixthSense: Freakishly Amazing New Technology

Pranav Mistry of MIT Media Labs, called one of the 3 greatest minds on earth today, has created a new wearable device called SixthSense. Watch the video below, compliments of Ted.com, and be amazed. Then realize…

You can create this yourself for a few dollars in off-the-shelf parts, and free open-source software Pranav is making publicly available!

We grew up interacting with the physical objects around us. There is an enormous number of them that we use every day. Unlike most of our computing devices, these objects are much more fun to use. When you talk about objects, one other thing automatically comes attached to that thing, and that is gestures: how we manipulate these objects, how we use these objects in everyday life. We use gestures not only to interact with these objects, but we also use them to interact with each other. A gesture of “Namaste!”, maybe, to respect someone, or maybe — in India I don’t need to teach a kid that this means “four” in cricket. It comes as a part of our everyday learning.

The Bootstrapper’s Bible

ChangeThis.com kicks ass!… I stumbled upon http://www.changethis.com/ last weekend. The site regularly posts “manifestos” (in the form of PDFs) on a range of positive, impacting topics — all from top writers.

ChangeThis is creating a new kind of media. A form of media that uses existing tools (like PDFs, blogs and the web) to challenge the way ideas are created and spread… We’re on a mission to spread important ideas and change minds… READ MORE

ChangeThis was built in the summer of 2004 by Amit Gupta, Catherine Hickey, Noah Weiss, Phoebe Espiritu and Michelle Sriwongtong. You can read their bios in this blog entry. The original idea behind ChangeThis came from Seth Godin. You can read about him on his website.

Below is the 103 page “manifesto” — The Bootstrapper’s Bible by Seth Godin.

Xobni Insight… kick email over-load’s ass!

The guys at Xobni have created an application I can’t wait to get my hands on… This ranks right up there with Merlin Mann’s “Inbox Zero” as real (geek) life-changing stuff… In fact “Inbox Backwards” is Xobni’s tag line!

Xobni Insight shows relationships between recipients, frequency of email exchange, people you haven’t emailed in a while, visualizations of peak email use, rates email relationships by sent/received exchanges, and much more.

Xobni outlook add-in for your inbox
